It provides the opportunity for children to interact with others and take part in group activities.

WHO IS WELCOME
Ardtornish Playgroup welcomes babies (from birth) and children up to 5 years of age.
A parent or caregiver must stay with their child during session time.

WHAT’S REQUIRED
WHAT’S PROVIDED
At Ardtornish we pride ourselves in having a well-equipped playgroup.
The kitchen has cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, fridge, stove, microwave and kettle for making tea, coffee and hot chocolate, which is also provided.
Our craft cupboard is well stocked and there is a wide range of indoor toys, books, jigsaw puzzles, playdough and a large blackboard / magnet board. We also have a sandpit, swing set, outdoor equipment, cubby house and a water play wagon.
There are high chairs, a change table and playpen for babies and a fully stocked first aid kit and sunscreen.
The premises are air conditioned and heated.
ACTIVITIES
During each session, besides playing together, the children generally will do an activity. Each session time is responsible for rostering the parents / caregivers within their groups to prepare an activity for the children. Books are available for ideas, but the activities should be kept simple and each parent / caregivers support and contribution is essential. Craft supplies required for these activities are generally available in our craft cupboard. Following the craft activity the children sit together and have morning tea, and then free play until the end of the session.
SPECIAL DAYS
Each year the playgroup has two special party days.
COMMITTEE
Our Annual General Meeting is held in February when a new committee is elected. The committee consists of a President, Secretary, Treasurer, Purchasing Officer and a minimum of five committee members, who are also generally the group leaders for their respective sessions.
The group leaders are responsible for greeting all new members, helping with inquiries, recording attendance and ensuring the session runs smoothly.
Committee meetings are held once or twice a term and your attendance and input at these meetings is welcomed.
PLAYGROUP FEES
The Playgroup Association charges an annual fee, which may vary from year to year. This provides insurance cover for member families.
Ardtornish Playgroup fees are currently set at around $25.00 per family, per term.
Our playgroup is a non-profit organisation. The term fees go towards the purchase of craft, kitchen and cleaning supplies, new toys and equipment and building maintenance.
They also help subsidise the cost of Easter eggs and Christmas presents. (The rest of this money comes from fundraising.)
FUNDRAISERS
The Playgroup generally has several fundraising activities throughout the year.
These have always been well supported, which has enabled us to maintain and improve the building and facilities.
HALL HIRE
