Student Voice - The role of the Student Representative Council
Ardtornish supports and encourages students to participate in the important process of decision making and citizenship through the Student Representative Council.
The students who form the Student Representative Council are selected by their peers because they display positive leadership qualities and a willingness to make a difference at school and in the wider community.
They are involved in sharing their class views and presenting ideas and strategies to improve life and learning here at Ardtornish.
The SRC executive group consists of 6 - 12 students from Yrs 6-7 who are selected through a formal application process. Applicants each write to a set of leadership criteria. This process has ensured that the executive members of SRC are dedicated and skilled.

SRC demonstrates a wider sphere of influence by raising funds to support charities in Australia and around the world. They also actively work to improve facilities at the school that students are interested in e.g new seating areas in the yard, specialist sports equipment, new playground items.
SRC plans special events, runs discos and forums and implements ideas raised by students. Since 2015 they have run an Enterprise Day to raise funds and give students an opportunity to plan activities related to business studies.
SRC students are encouraged to develop their own leadership skills by being involved in leadership training activities, and to take on roles within SRC meetings.
