STUDENT FILM MAKING |
Rm 6 |
Nearly everyone now has access to a smart phone or iPad with the ability to take video and create films. Learning to do this is a great skill to develop and on this page we are showcasing films that students create.
The first part of film making involves creating a story board that shows how the film will be shot and what dialogue will be spoken. The director / videographer uses this story board to explain to their cast what actions to undertake and what to say in each scene.
To encourage filmmaking in 2025, we are encouraging students to enter into a 'FILM CHALLENGE' on a regular basis.
Students can shoot a film at home or school and submit it for the director / filmer to win a $20 prize!

What is the difference between one angle and multi angle filming?.
One angle filming has the camera stay still for the whole of the scene. It is usually a long or medium shot.
Multi-angle filming has the camera continually changing position to capture a range of different view points. This includes long shots, medium shots and closeups. The film is a lot more interesting and the actors do not have to remember big sections of dialogue. They can just deliver a little bit of dialogue at a time.
The film 'Don't Lose My Pencil' was shot twice using the different techniques.
Which one do you prefer?

Student Stories filmed by Adults
Some students in the JP come up with great scripts for films that they want to act in but can't film.
In this situation they have an adult do the videoing but then teach them the editing process.
